Guided walking tours

The Hardangervidda in Norway is the largest mountain plateau of Europe. It is an enormous area of more than 8.000 km2 that stretches over parts of the Norwegian counties Hordaland, Telemark and Buskerud. In 1981, much of the Hardangervidda was designated a national park, Norway's largest at 3,422 km² (1,321 square miles). Its wild reindeer flocks are among the largest in the world, with some 10,000 animals.

In this dramatic area we organize walking arrangements for small groups (max 10 persons), based on daytrips, with a local english speaking guide. As operating base we will use our cosy guesthouse situated at the foot of the Hardangervidda.

In springtime when the days already are getting a bit longer, but when the winter has not surrendered yet, we will explore this area on snowshoes, while we enjoy the vast and impressive snow landscape on the Hardangervidda.

In the autumn, which to us is one of the most beautiful seasons, we have mapped out some attractive walks on the Hardangervidda. The fantastic autumn colours and the often nice late summer weather, will make these walks an unforgettable experience.

All the walking arrangements are with full board. As walking makes you hungry, we can assure you that with our walking arrangements we serve a good breakfast with home baked bread each morning. You make your own lunch package at breakfast and we provide you with a warm or cold drink in your thermos. In the evenings we serve a good meal, where we ofcourse consider your diet- or vegetarian wishes. And if you wish so, a good glass of wine or a cold beer can be enjoyed.

All the walks can be adapted to the level and tempo of the group. The climbing and descending happens gradually with some steep climbs, which most of the time will be rewarded by a dramatic view. With our walks it is not about how many kilometres we cover, how many mountain tops we reach or how fast we walk. Our walks are meant to enjoy the nature around us. Take it a bit more relaxing and let the time come to us instead of the other way around. Take your time for taking a picture, enjoy the beautiful scenery or just to catch your breath again after a strenuous climb. During the walks we wil tell you extensively about the flora and fauna on the Hardangervidda.
